The Basics
Meet John (the buyer and a Gardener) and Anne (the seller who works in a Call Centre)
Anne is selling an ipod for £100. She is happy to Haggle or Swap.
Option 1 – BUY NOW - John pays £100 for the ipod and thinks it’s an Amazing DEAL.
Option 2 – HAGGLE - John Haggles and gets the ipod for £75. DEAL.
Option 3 – SWAP - John swaps his wii fit board for the ipod. DEAL.
Option 4 – SWAP - John offers to tidy up Anne’s Garden in return for the ipod. DEAL.
4. LISTING YOUR ITEM
The easy to follow ‘Add a New Item’ Form takes you through the steps to list your item successfully.
If you know the price you want for your item and definitely only want to sell at that price, just choose the BUY NOW option. However if you fancy some fun go for the HAGGLE option or perhaps there is something you are wanting and are prepared to SWAP your item for something else, if this is the case simply enter a description of what you would like as a swap in the text box.
Alternatively why not choose all three options and watch those deals come in, remember you can decide if it’s DEAL or NO DEAL.
Write a descriptive title using relevant keywords. Imagine you are looking for your item. What information would you type in to find your item? Remember to include all relevant information, include brand, age, condition etc, be honest don’t withhold some information that may become an issue later.
After submitting the ‘Add your New Item’ Form, you will be asked to confirm your listing in the ‘My Summary’ section under ‘items not confirmed’ .Before confirming your item you will be able to make any changes here, you will be informed of how many credits are being deducted for your ad. You will need to already have purchased your credits and these will be clearly shown in the top right corner of the site when you are logged in. If at this stage you have not got enough credits to list your item, don’t worry you will be taken to another screen for you to purchase some more through our secure payment gateway. REMEMBER the more credits you buy the cheaper it is to sell your items and there is NO COMMISSION EVER on items sold.
5. PRICING, PAYMENT & POSTAGE
Pricing: If you are using the BUY NOW option just choose this option and put in the price you are wanting.
If you are happy to HAGGLE, choose this option and put a reasonable asking price. Then put in a minimum price for consideration in the required box.
You will only see offers above this minimum price.
i.e. The asking price on your item is £50 and you are happy to HAGGLE but only want to receive offers above £30, anyone offering less than £30 will receive an automatic email response saying NO DEAL. Only you know what this parameter is, this cuts down on receiving unwanted offers. If you have received offers within your parameter, you must respond within 24 HOURS or else an automatic NO DEAL email will be sent.
If you are happy to SWAP, you may want to still put an asking price in and detail the item/s you are happy to accept as a swap. i.e. you are selling a mobile phone and are happy to swap it for an MP3 player and £20. Just put this in your swap details.
Payments: You choose how you would like to accept payment, i.e. Cheque, Postal order, Paypal.
Postage: Make sure you include all postage and packaging costs and if you are happy to ship overseas, remember to include all relevant postage costs for this.
6. MANAGING AND COMPLETING YOUR SALES
Use ‘My Summary’ to track all your activity. You will be able to see all the offers and deals here. You will need to respond to any new offers within 24 HOURS or an automatic NO DEAL response email will be sent out. Once you have completed a deal you will be given all the contact details for the buyer and you can then arrange payment and postage. If you have chosen paypal as an accepted method of payment, the paypal logo will be on the buyers email which is a link to the paypal site. Either ask them to login to their paypal account and use the ‘Send Money’ option or alternatively log into your paypal account and select the “request payment” option, here you can fill in the buyers details and the amount they should pay a fast and safe option for all. Only post out your item once your payment is received.
An automated response will be sent to all other people with offers in, saying NO DEAL after 24 HOURS, or you can manually select NO DEAL against each offer in the ‘View Offers’ section in ‘My Summary’.
Once your sale is completed, leave feedback and encourage your buyer to do the same.
Please note: If in the unfortunate event your item does not sell you can
Relist it for FREE as long as you had no offers within your parameters.
